The North-West Region network covers Sligo and Leitrim.

About the region

Our network provides a focal point for engineers of all grades and disciplines, and proactively encourages their continuous professional development through delivery of a varies programme of lectures, seminars and networking events.

We are keen to promote closer links with the Institute of Technology, Sligo. The Institute regularly hosts regular Engineers Ireland events including career days and lectures and the regional KNEX challenges. Recently they have begun to webcast these lectures for the benefit of the region and beyond.

The North-West region has hosted high profile events such as the Irish round of the World Rally Championships.

Who can join?

  • Engineers and engineering technicians working in the region
  • Engineering consultancies and support servicing companies
  • Local government and semi-state organisation workers involved in engineering
  • Academic researchers, lecturers and students

How to join

If you are already a member of Engineers Ireland, and gave a correspondence address in Sligo or Leitrim when you joined, you have automatically been affiliated with the North-West Region network.

If your correspondence address is outside these 2 counties, you can still join our network through the Members Area

It is free to join our network.Once you register as a member of a network, you can choose to:

Events

North-West Region network members receive invitations to a wide variety of educational and social events throughout the year, including:

  • CPD-approved evening seminars and lectures delivered by experts across a broad range of engineering topics
  • site visits to regional projects of interest
  • up to 8 golf outings per year in clubs throughout the region
  • an annual dinner and annual table quiz

Iarnród Éireann’s new River Shannon rail bridge at Drumsna
